A sold out crowd heated up the Neumos bouncy floor on a rainy Thursday to witness this psychedlic-pop combo. It was a crazy show. Toro is super talented and has a unique thing going on. I really enjoyed his set. He does a great job of sampling and looping his voice while maintaining rhythm on his other machines up there. He had a couple guys join him which was a surprise, I thought he did it all my himself. Now, Caribou ....holly crap! When they mash, they mash hard! Some of their "spazzes" where just mind blowing. They are a band who could play dance floor bangers all night and just do that and have the people begging for more. They played some slower songs that were beautiful compositions, but let's face it - when you play both kinds of tunes the people come out to hear the more uptempo ones. When they played "sun," I think all of our minds melted and poured out our ears. They extended the track with chaotic tantrums to 10 or 15 minutes, really incredible. Dude plays a recorder!!?!! How can you compete with that? They should have encored with "sun" but they did this other tune that was super boring at the start but ended in a dualing-synconized-drum session with the lead singer and his rhythm man. (who is really amazing) It was sick, like watching Metallica or something. Super talented band, really hope for high levels of success for those guys.
