Shred Day 10 - 10/11 Season

02.13.11

Best day of the year was also the biggest surprise day of the year. We were expecting a cold and foggy day with some new snow on hard pack, what we got was bluebird, warm, and tons of fresh snow in the right places. HOLLY CRAP, what a day!

Chris and I spotted some of Chris's friends and we ended up hiking two places I have always wanted to go to. We first hiked the backside by the power towers to a place called Rooster. The hike wasn't bad, pretty steep but it feels good to work for your turns. The view on the top of the towers was killer, always wanted to go up there. We rode the backside of that point and ended down on the cat track. Our journey down was something you see in videos. Huge rollers of waist deep powder, huge rocks to launch off of, swoopy turns, wall rides - everything I love about this sport. My reverse camber board killed it back there, so much float! The end of the run was pretty technical with quick turns, narrow paths, and unsure routes. Best run of the year and I hope to return to that little piece of Heaven.

Our second hike was climbing the mountain face above Tye Mill. It was called Piss Point and we dropped at the beginning of the trail. We found some really nice snow back there some some killer rock-drops. The view up top was also a fine sight! The route dropped us back on Tye Mill, so basically it is now the new way to hit this run. So much fun back there. We met back up with Coco and did a Big Chief tree run, hit up the Avant, and ended the day with a pastry from the Sultan Bakery. Hell Yes! My favorite day of the year for sure.
