Last time Blockhead was in town I made the decision to not go and support UHF when they brought over DJ Assault. Ever since that decision has been made, I been getting shit from Sarah. Well it was time for redemption and I made it to the show. Sarah was out to town for work, so that was a HUGE bummer since I think Sarah is his number one fan. My goal was to see the show, meet Tony and get something for Sarah. Within the first 10 minutes of entering the venue, I spotted Tony, met him, chatted him up about all sorts of things, and got him to sign this poster I ripped off the wall for Sarah. I left the poster on the counter for a surprise when she got back into town, she was stoked!
The show was pretty badass. Blockhead was using Abelton Live and Signify was scratching next to him. He played a lot of mashups and re-edits of familiar tracks. Abelton is very boaring to watch and I wish people would stop labeling sets "LIVE" when using this program. There is nothing "Live" about watching a guy click around on his laptop. Anyway, it was still awesome in person. We are big fans, it was nice to tell Tony how much his music means to us and to recieve a big thanks you from him. It is cool to meet musicians who are humble to meet fans.
