11.14.09 - Crystal Mountain
"I can't believe we are snowboarding." I think I said this 4 times to Chris. We were in shock we were riding so early in the season and at the same time it felt like we just took a vacation from last season. Does it really only take an hour and half to get to Crystal? Really? 78 miles? Just seemed so much shorter than Stevens. After purchasing our mandatory leashes for 7.00 a pop, we were greeted to blue skies and untouched stashes. Chris and I didnt really know where we were going but ended up spending most of our time on mellow runs. It was perfect because there were lot's of little wall hits and I was learning how to use my new board.
My first run was nothing but smiles. I don't know if it was the new board or the new season, but it was all smiles and giggling. Man, that reverse camber is the way to go. I am completely sold on the new board. My feet were killing me at the end of the day, I have to figure that one out. New binders? Wrong socks? Not broken in gear? Guess time will mend. There was some rocks, and well we found them. They are hidden little turds, but they sure did leave their mark on my virgin Custom. Chris got a core-shot, so that Love board is shot - no good. A little chilli breadbowl and some brews at lunch, made it all better. Killer first day, all the knicks were worth it.
Welcome back snowboarding, this is the year for greatness.
