3 weeks of crap and we finally get some snow for the holiday weekend - heck yes. Oh, all of Washington thought the same thing - heck no. I have never seen Tye Chair 3 deep on EVERY chair. Guess this is what happens when Skyline chair shuts down.
I had a floating holiday left for 09 so I took NYE off and rode Stevens with Chris. There was 3" of fresh frosting 3 weeks of hardpack, so it was great if you didn't dig too deep. We followed each other on all the usual spots and found lot's to play on. Hogs Hill was my favorite run of the day where we found a few drops and lines that felt like we were in a film. The backside was un-rideable due to fog. (as usual) We met up with Chris's friend who is used to ride pro and ended up playing a very short game of "Horse." "Alright, let start easy - backside 360." Yeah, we are not tricksters, so that game ended real quick. My last run I wrecked pretty hard and ended up wiplashing a rib or muscle over my heart pretty bad. Crappy way to end the day, hope it heals this week.
Sunday was very mellow. We had a big squad head up to celebrate Geneva's birthday. It is always awesome to play follow the leader with a big group snaking around the hills. We played a lot in the trees seeking secret stashes of leftover powder from the day before. It was mostly firm finds, but there were a couple lines worthy of the journey. I was still hurting from my injury coupled with another weird fall earlier in the morning, so I was cruising at a slow pace. We took a few runs in the park, beers and lunch, and ended a few runs after that. Mellow day, but it was dry and the snow was fast. At this point you have to take what you can get since the season can't make up it's mind.
