Shred Day 16 - 09/10 Season

02.28.10

Possibly the best conditions day yet. 6 inches of fresh snow on a warm bluebird day, not much to complain about there. I met up with Ben for a few first track runs on the backside until we split around 10:00. I stayed on the backside because conditions were just too good, no friends on a powder day right? I hit my favorite tree run off Southern Divide and the off bounds hill under the power towers. Straight line'n untouched fields has to be my favorite thing to do. The canyon off of the power tower hill was pretty great as well, I was the first in there that day. I also felt very adventurious (must of been all the hikers i could see on the ridges) and took some double diamond runs I have not been on. Wild Katz was really steep, but there was so much snow on it it didn't matter. I wouldn't touch that on an icey day though. (especially with my reverse camber board) I also went on the lift above Big Chief to try to hit the Chief Bowl but I failed at that line and just found my way down Chief from higher up. Not a bad way to go at all. The tree line on Chief was really great as well, so much terrain to mess around with in there. The snow turned really "grabby" around 11:30, it must have been 45 degrees out there! Really beautiful day and the probable last snow dump of the year really was a treat. I rode hard until 12:30 and got back to the city to finish off my Save the Date cards..perfect day of snow and creativity.
