Chris and I hit the hill on Sunday, it has been a month since we rode together. It was a very spring day with a overcast layer above us. The snow was soft and felt great. After our first run, Chris said, "let's hike." So we did and it sucked. We hiked the ridge on Southern Cross farther than I have ever been. It is really amazing up there, so many lines to take. We ended up dropping on the opposite side which takes you to the RV parking lot on the front of the hill. The hike was the best part, once we got in the trees it was all a mistake. The snow was "sandy" and there was nothing but fallen branches and tight terrain. I had to unstrap once to get around a tricky spot. It was an adventure and it would have been pretty great if we dropped in earlier and if we did it on a powder day. The whole experience was probably 1.5 hours. We found this little bowl with a cliff drop for each of us on the lines we were on. They always look larger then they are. I hit mine really well the first take and Chris flopped an accidental 180 off his and hiked back up for a mulligan drop. We had them both on video but I suck and erased them. (nice job) We were pretty werked after that "hike," and rode the usual suspects on the front with a couple park runs. I finally did the long flat box twice with success! Chris was all flop the whole day and was eating it on everything he tried, pretty damn funny. See what happens when you take a month off young grasshopper?
