Down Under Update-012

I have complained about beer a lot on this adventure. I still stick to my thoughts, but I will say that there have been some hidden gems that make beering down under a treasure hunt. Burleigh Brewing has proven to be the best craft brewery so far. The first Friday of the month they hold a BBQ fundraiser with live music. They have a killer facility in a very odd industrial park. Tons of people were there with their families, it really felt like Fremont Brewing. They just finished a Dunkel that was very sessionable with great toasty notes. I also had their German Hef which is a favorite, and their "My Wife's Bitter" Ale that was not bitter at all, but malty with hints of coriander. Looking forward to spending a Saturday afternoon here for a proper tour and tasting.

We returned to Mt. Tamborine for the usual wine/bushwalk combo. This particular trail was the most challenging offering some elevation changes and some loose trails. There was a waterfall at the end which was okay, and half of the trail was washed out from recent heavy rainfall. Not my favorite hike, but we are very close to completing all of the trails at Tamborine. We finished our adventure at Liquid Amber Bistro again to repeat that marvelous dinner we had a few weeks ago.

I finally went surfing and I am deeply in love. My lessons are down the road about 30 minutes at Main Beach. This beach is much more relaxed and I am so thankful I am away from the busy touristy beach at Surfers and getting educated by a couple blokes that really care about the craft. We went through 3 steps of drills practicing our body positions on the board and finally ending the day with surfing waves standing. My first attempt at standing I got up and surfed all the way to the shore. It really does feel like riding powder but you have to squat much more. My snowboarding and longboarding really have helped, but nothing can help the constant drilling of the ocean. The hardest part is getting out there, you can't turn off those waves. Really stoked on this sport and looking forward to see how far I take it.
