Lake Quinalt / Klaloch Camping

July 21-24, 2011

Our first trip together was camping at Lake Quinalt in 2004. We wanted to relive that trip this year and add Klaloch to the adventure. We camped at spot 7 next to our original 6 spot 7 years ago. I love the spots here. They are right on the lake and situated lower than where you park in so there is a lot of depth to each site. Ours was killer! We had this tent pad nested behind an old tree and an amazing peekaboo view of the lake. We did one hike close by into some old growth trees and did an easy trek to the Quinalt Lodge for dinner one of our nights. Our second day we did a portion of a large hike called Colonial Bob. It was an uphill battle, but the old grown and creek crossings were well worth it. Lola was a nut on this hike and we witnessed her best "freak-out" to date. We were crying with laughter witnessing her flip around and run in circles on a narrow path.

Our lat night was a Klaloch which is a huge campground right on the beach. We booked this months ago based on photos posted online and our site turned out to be really awesome. Behind us was this cove of knotted-up coastal trees which lead to the main beach access. We spent a lot of time on the driftwood covered beach because the weather this weekend was incredible! We anticipated rain and even bought a canopy! We cozied-up on a spot in between a couple rows of logs and Lola played watch dog for us as we fell asleep in the sun. Really amazing camping trip, it finally feels like summer.
