Down Under Update-005

We got a tip from a co-woker to check out a town called Noosa so we packed up the mighty Camry and made the 3 hour grind. Noosa is located on the Sunshine coast 40 minutes North of Brisbane. It is a popular getaway and offers a gorgeous bay and upscale shopping and dining. We had only planned to stay for a little bit so we could check out another place but ended up staying for the afternoon since it took so long to get there. We had an excellent lunch and possibly the first good meal to date. We toured the shops most of the day and finished off the evening with a drink at a swanky little bar. No beach time on this day, it was just too late to get started and not enough time to get into it. Not much to say other that that. I can't say we really dug into the experience, just sampled.

So, two Americans want to buy a small turkey to celebrate an American holiday in a foreign land, after 6 phone calls, 4 stores, and 2 weeks of searching we made a chicken. It was fucking awesome, I can't lie. Sarah made a smoke-roasted chicken with pomegranate thyme reduction, ciabatta stuffing with hazelnuts and raisons, and a mashed potato casserole - no big deal. We got all of the ingredients at a farmers market and even found an apple pie! It was fun but it jumpstarted our homesickness with the absence of family.

We are starting to see the weather change. Summer is their hottest season but it is also the wettest. There has been many days of rain, but it feels likes taking a shower which is kinda awesome. I am now angry when I wake up to anything that isn't 100% sun, does this mean I have converted?
