Down Under Update-009

New Years was really good to us. We started the night at a co-workers house for drinks and then split off to do our own thing. It was an interesting crew of people hanging out - We had 1 full Aussie, 2 Americans, 1 Zimbobwian, and a 1/2 Aussie 1/2 Sri Lankin having a chat over beers. It was really nice, especially for me because I don't get to talk to people very much. We split, grabbed our chairs and eski (cooler) and sipped champagne on the beach. There were 4 shows happening at once down the coastline and the beach was full of people enjoying the moment.

We moved into our new apartment during the Holidays and we are finally situated. I picked this place out without Sarah even seeing it. I was attracted by the style and views of the river. It is 10 minutes closer to Sarah's work cutting her walk to 35 minutes. We are 1 block farther from the beach and we do miss our ocean view but the rest of the boxes were ticked. The building has a movie theatre, clubhouse, workout room, pool, hot tub, and a community BBQ. We eat every meal outside on our deck and love taking naps with the sliding glass door wall completely open listening to the boats. The river reminds us of our loved canal in Fremont and South Lake Union summer days at Gasworks. We have had some problems but after a few days of cleaning, maintenance fixes, and swapping our couch cushions to non-smelling ones, this really does feel like a home.
